​The RC500 RTU is ideal for remote automation needs such as those found in oil and gas applications. It is designed to withstand harsh environments and can operate using minimal electricity, making it ideal for operating on solar power and for providing continuous monitoring of remote fixed assets. RC500 RTU’s open communication platform integrates seamlessly with Honeywell’s Experion® Process Knowledge System (PKS). This integration addresses the most critical and complex automation needs and brings in the latest technology offered by the Experion platform.

Honeywell offers multiple RTU models to suit users’ specific application requirements. RTU variants are available based on the number of communication ports needed, memory requirements, system topology needs, protocol needs and type of input/output (I/O) modules needed.

​RC500 RTU has a variety of communication ports and enables easy I/O expansion through connectivity to Ethernet I/Os. It supports industry standard Modbus and DNP3 protocols over Serial and Ethernet. In addition, it is capable of peer-to-peer I/O transfers, making it ideal for transferring and sharing information between devices in a large network.

Other key features include data-logging capabilities with the option to record I/O values and log them into data files. This means critical data from the field is not missed and is available for analysis. The RTU also features self-resetting fuses, a watchdog function for health monitoring while an Ethernet I/O module delivers the best output across all common control applications.
